Welcome to USF Garden Center — your digital guide to smarter, greener gardening. Our mission is simple: help every gardener, from first-time balcony growers to seasoned allotment keepers, answer one of the most common questions in the garden: can you plant them together?
What we do
Companion planting is one of the oldest and most rewarding gardening techniques. Some plants protect each other from pests, attract pollinators, share nutrients or make good use of space. Others compete for light, water and food, share the same diseases or even release compounds that hold their neighbours back. Knowing the difference saves time, money and a lot of disappointment.
USF Garden Center brings that knowledge together in one place. Today we publish 39,509 guides covering 34,188 combinations of 66 popular vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers — plus articles on soil, garden pests, plant care and sustainable growing.
How our guides are built
Every companion planting guide follows the same clear structure, so you can find the answer quickly and dig deeper when you need to:
- A quick answer first. The opening paragraph tells you straight away whether the plants make good neighbours.
- A side-by-side comparison. Sunlight, water needs, soil pH and type, hardiness zones, spacing and growth habit, compared in one table.
- Benefits and challenges. What each plant gives the other, where they compete and how to work around problems.
- Practical planting tips. Spacing, timing, container versus bed, and what to watch for during the season.
- Answers to follow-up questions. The questions gardeners usually ask next, answered in plain language.
You can read more about how we research, review and update our content in our Editorial Policy.
Who we write for
Our readers grow food and flowers in raised beds, containers, backyard plots, community gardens and small farms all over the world. Because climates differ, our guides explain why plants get along (or don’t), so you can adapt the advice to your own hardiness zone, soil and season.
Our values
- Practical first. Advice you can use this weekend, not just theory.
- Nature-friendly. We favour methods that build healthy soil, support pollinators and reduce the need for chemicals.
- Honest and independent. Advertising keeps the site free, but it never decides what we write.
- Always improving. When readers spot a mistake, we fix it.
